About Cooking Basically


 

Cooking Basically was created April 18, 2025, as a way to share my passion of food to the world. My mom raised all four of us children to love to cook and made it never feel like a chore. She is the reason I love cooking and baking to this day. If we wanted to experiment, create a recipe and had ingredients to do so she allowed it. Now as an adult I love creating recipes and being creative with food. 

The kitchen is a peaceful place for me to create and let go of stress/anxiety. I love to create recipes and see them come together to create something beautiful. A year ago, I got sidelined with a health issue that shook the way I eat food. I struggled this past year to love food because it made me sick to eat anything. So, I stopped cooking and was barely eating, and it made me so sad. Recently my husband was encouraging me to cook and create again. He reminded me that when he had to go on a low salt diet I took on the challenge. I needed that reminder because trying to cook around my new dietary needs overwhelmed me at the time. One morning I woke up with two words in my head " Cooking and Basically" and that is how this blog was created. I decided on " Cooking Basically", wanting to encourage others as well as myself. 

This blog will showcase gluten free, and low salt recipes as well as everyday recipes. I will have something for everyone not just those with dietary needs.  I want to make a name for myself by encouraging others to get in the kitchen and even invite their kids in to help.
