Hushpuppies from Heaven
Short story time! When I was a kid and went out with my family to Long John Silvers, my dad would end up getting hushpuppies. He did not like them, so when we were not looking, he would put them on our plate. We would ask him where they came from, and he always said the sky. So that is why I bring you "Hushpuppies from heaven".
Ingredients:
1 C Corn meal
1/4 C Flour
1 1/2 Tsp Baking powder
3 Tsp Garlic salt
1/4 Chopped onion
1/3 c chopped bacon
1 egg slightly beaten
3/4 C milk
Directions:
In a bowl mix all of your dry ingredients, then add your milk and egg. Slowly and gently mix it. Do not over mix. Set it aside. In a pan pour half a pan of oil, heat it up till it's hot enough to fry. Now take a greased spoon or cookie scoop and scoop into the hot oil. Take a slotted spoon and occasionally roll the hushpuppies so they get cooked evenly and golden. Take out and put it on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt.
